Children's Dentistry

As a parent, you want your child to get a positive start with dental visits that will set the stage for a future free of dental problems. Dental visits are a big event for both you and your child. It takes a team of special people with experience in treating children to make this first visit successful. At George Family Dentistry, we’re here to help your little one feel safe and secure during this important step in their development.

Compassionate Care for Your Children

As an adult, you know that a dental visit can be intimidating. So you can imagine how a young child must feel when visiting a dental office for the first time with all the new people, sites, and sounds to adjust to.

Our first priority is to help your child feel completely comfortable with us. Many adults who have dental anxiety had a negative experience as a child. This is unfortunate and unnecessary because the skill and gentle care of a compassionate team can create a completely positive experience. Our entire team gets a lot of satisfaction from helping kids start off with a positive view of dentistry.

Your Child’s First Visit

When should your child first see the dentist? The American Dental Association recommends that the first visit take place when the first baby teeth have erupted, but no later than age one. The purpose of this first visit is not to perform any serious treatment. If we can show your kids there’s nothing to worry about during their first few visits, it will be much easier to treat them in the future if a problem does arise.

Dr. Malcolm George has been providing gentle dentistry for children for nearly 15 years. We’ll never push a child if they’re not ready. We’ll adjust your child’s treatments according to their comfort level and work toward the point where they trust us enough to let us perform treatments like cleanings.

Benefits of Early Childhood Treatment

Many parents wonder why it’s necessary to bring their child to the dentist when they still have their baby teeth. After all, they’re all going to come out anyway, aren’t they?

The truth is that keeping baby teeth healthy is extremely important. Even though baby teeth will eventually come out, we don’t want them to be lost before they’re ready. These little teeth have the important job of holding a place for the permanent teeth that are already growing in your child’s gums.

Is it time to schedule your child’s first visit? The team at George Family Dentistry loves treating kids because we understand the lifetime benefits of a happy, healthy smile. If you’d like to schedule an appointment, please give us a call. Together we’ll make sure that your child’s oral health gets off to the best start possible.
