Technology

At George Family Dentistry, we believe that we can provide you with the best possible dental care by combining a one-on-one, personalized approach with state-of-the-art treatments and technology. Our goal is to research and invest in the type of technology that we know will provide you with oral health benefits while making your treatment more efficient and comfortable.

DIAGNOdent Cavity Detector

Dental exams are essential if you want to maintain a healthy smile. In addition to visual exams and x-rays we use DIAGNOdent, a small handheld dental laser. Using the device, we can scan the surface of your teeth to easily find very small cavities that may not be seen during a visual exam. Since we can see the problem with such accuracy, we can more easily target decay, making your treatment faster, less invasive, and more comfortable.

Digital Radiography (X-Rays)

Digital radiographs (x-rays) are a dental imaging system that allows us to take digitally perfect images of your teeth and share them with you on a TV monitor. The software used allows us to enlarge the image, helping us see the tiniest details and potential problems. We can then share the image with you so that you see what we see, making it easier for you to understand why your treatment is necessary. Digital images are also better for you because they significantly reduce your radiation exposure.

Intraoral Cameras

Intraoral cameras are a special type of camera made specifically for use in dentistry. This very small handheld instrument allows us to share images of your mouth with you so you get a clear picture of what’s happening and why treatment is necessary.

This information helps you see what we see and also helps us make an accurate diagnoses. The clear, enlarged images, show us details that may be not be seen easily during a routine visual exam.

Digital Panoramic X-Rays

Unlike traditional x-rays that provide an image of each tooth, panoramic x-rays create a single image of the entire mouth. Our panoramic imaging system allows you to easily stand or sit comfortably during the examination. This type of exam requires fewer steps since we don’t have to take a series of x-rays. Using panoramic imaging, we can see problems such as bone abnormalities and fractures, impacted teeth, infections, and tumors.

Chair Side TV Screens

Our TV screens are mounted next to our dental chairs, which serve a couple purposes. First, it makes it easy to share enlarged x-ray images with you so you can better understand what’s happening with your teeth. Also, during your appointment you’re welcome to sit back, relax, and watch TV while we perform the necessary treatment.
